| Job Description | : | - Provide quality operational support to the ~1800 UNIX servers and their resident applications. - Install, re-image, configures and manages UNIX operating systems in the RISC & SISC data centers. 1. OS customizations and core software installations (i.e. Basic5Build) 2. File system builds or re-builds 3. HACMP cluster builds 4. Operating System tuning 5. Application consulting 6. Validation of resource configurations 7. DPAR (dynamic reallocation of cpu and memory) 8. MPAR builds - Install and assist in the maintenance of core third party software (TSM, Maestro, BMC products, etc…) - Perform hardware/software troubleshooting and follow through on necessary corrective actions. This includes working with all third party support vendors. - Work with other ET groups on SAN related issues. - Daily troubleshooting with all involved groups to correct problems (networking, SAN, hardware, etc…) and ensure the projects meet all deadlines. - OS upgrades, ML upgrades, patching. - Microcode and/or firmware upgrades. - OS/Network tuning via system kernel parameter modifications. - Maintain UNIX system documentation such as the MetDDB and hardware problem/growth statistics. - Design and document technical procedures and workflows for team review. - Perform disaster recovery and system restores as assigned. |
